Countries that subscribe to “open banking” and those that don’t

Jason Pereira and I discussed my book on his Fintech Impact podcast, and then we went into regulation and open banking.

Here are some key takeaways from our conversation:.

  • Cryptocurrency and peer-to-peer networks are empowering end-users.
  • It’s not just about banking transactions anymore; it’s about facilitating conversations.
  • We also discussed open banking regulation, the linchpin in today’s ecosystems. Each country has its own challenges and opportunities, from Australia’s progressive policies to Singapore’s cautious approach. In response to regulatory scrutiny, banks must adopt application programming interface ecosystems and explore new revenue streams to stay ahead.
  • The advent of tokenised deposits will be a game changer, but also have its own unintended consequences.
