How geopolitics will shape fintech trends

I spoke with Greg Palmer on the Finovate Podcast about how geopolitics shapes the future of finance.

The following are some salient points from our discussion:
● The future of finance is not crafted by design but evolves during periods of stress and change.

For example, the US Dollar as the global trading currency was put to the test by the Ukraine war; countries worldwide are seeking alternative arrangements to reduce dependence on the US Dollar. Even if they fail, I see the U.S. digitizing quickly to keep its dominance.

● The digitisation of the deposit business is quietly taking place globally, with central banks promoting the tokenisation of deposits by commercial banks; it may empower individuals to take charge of configuring their financial relationships.

● AI forces innovators in finance to focus on the conversation rather than on the product.
