I joined Brett Swartz on the Build It to Billions podcast to discuss how AI is reshaping the financial services industry and what this means for banks, businesses and individuals.
For years, digital banking has largely been about doing the same things faster and more efficiently. AI represents something fundamentally different. As I explore in my book Building the AI Bank, it is changing how banks operate, where decisions are made and, more importantly, how customers interact with financial products.
I have always maintained that if the product doesn’t change, nothing has changed.
Take mortgages, for example. What once took three months to process could potentially be completed in three minutes with AI. But the real transformation is not simply the speed. It is how younger generations might begin treating property as a transactional asset, buying and selling it as easily as they trade securities.
We also discuss how AI agents could increasingly act on behalf of individuals, reducing their dependence on banks as traditional intermediaries. This raises important questions about how AI is reshaping banking and where institutions will find their relevance.
Our conversation extends to digital assets, the future of financial intermediation, wealth creation and the importance of remaining relevant in the AI age.
I also share some personal reflections on how I am using AI to develop my own capabilities and why I believe we must continuously relearn what we know as technology evolves.
Here’s what we discussed:
- Why AI is more than a productivity tool for banks.
- How a three-minute mortgage could transform the way we think about property.
- Why banks must rethink their role as financial intermediaries.
- The evolving role of digital assets and wealth creation.
- How individuals can remain relevant in the AI age.
